This is not the first time our foundation has supported Varya. This unique girl is the only child in Ukraine with a rare genetic disease caused by a mutation in the SLC6A1 gene. The disease manifests itself in extremely severe epileptic seizures, which repeatedly destroy the brain. Because of these seizures, Varya is losing her skills, memory, and ability to think. The girl is developing a severe form of autism.
