Meet Bogdanchik. This brave boy is only five years old, and he has already been through so much. A few years ago, the family was forced to leave their home because of the war, and later the parents learned that their son had a dangerous genetic disease.
Bohdan was sickly from birth. His parents believed that everything would pass when their son grew up. But over the years it did not get easier. After lengthy examinations, doctors shocked the family with a diagnosis: Schwachmann-Diamond Syndrome (SDS). This is a genetic disease that negatively affects the functioning of the entire body, and is especially dangerous for the bone marrow, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract and immune system.
Despite the serious and threatening diagnosis, the boy can live a happy and full life. To do this, Bohdan needs constant drug therapy, regular medical examinations and support for the organs and systems that are most affected by the disease. In addition, in order to choose the right treatment and diet, it is necessary to conduct an expensive genetic test - whole-exome sequencing.
Unfortunately, now that the parents have lost their stable jobs and are homeless, it is almost impossible to find the funds for diagnosis and treatment. At the same time, the family is afraid of losing the chance to save Bohdanchyk, because without treatment the disease will continue to destroy the child's body.
