The Orekhov family’s older sons still remember how happy and carefree their lives were before the war. The house was often filled with the aroma of a warm meal and fresh pastries, and their mother, Vita, worked at a preschool and loved her children more than anything.

When the full-scale war broke out, the boys’ father left Ukraine and eventually stopped supporting the family and communicating with his children. The woman was left alone with her two teenage sons and an infant. Soon after, the daycare center where she worked was closed. Meager social benefits became the only source of income for the large family.
The stress she had endured took a heavy toll on her health. Constant anxiety, fear for the future, exhaustion, and a sense of helplessness were at times so overwhelming that she didn’t even want to get out of bed. But for the sake of her children, Vita managed to pull herself together.
Today, women take on any kind of side job, aren’t afraid of even the hardest work, take care of the household, and prove every day that Ukrainian mothers are a model of resilience, strength, and boundless love for their children.
“Sometimes I can’t buy enough food for my children, and sometimes I don’t have the money to pay for utilities. But I try not to let my children see how scared and hurt I am,” says Ms. Vita.
In this situation, it’s hard for her to buy even ordinary notebooks for her sons or the cheapest clothes. But right now, when life has become a real challenge, Vita has become especially convinced that there are many sincere and caring people in the world.
Recently, our volunteers delivered humanitarian aid to the family: basic food items, some treats for the boys, school supplies, and hygiene products. This kind of support not only helps them get through a difficult time but also gives them a sense of care and hope.
We believe that the Orekhov family will certainly overcome all their difficulties, and we, for our part, will not turn a blind eye to their situation.
